The Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (CDSB) at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences offers scholarships for highly motivated students with a quantitative orientation to pursue their doctoral degree in Finance.

Our structured PhD program in Finance spans all key areas of finance, including Asset Pricing, Banking, Behavioral Finance and Decision Making, Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Investment Management, and Insurance and Risk Management. It provides doctoral students with core competencies in analytical, empirical, and experimental research methods as well as a profound knowledge of the relevant institutional details in their field.
Furthermore, our full-time PhD program also offers the possibilities to take courses and collaborate with researchers from other related disciplines including economics, all social sciences, law, and others. The research results of our graduates and the faculty are regularly published in the leading finance journals, such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies etc.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences (GESS) provides graduate training in empirical and quantitative methods as well as their application to business, economics, and the social sciences. It is supported by the ‘Excellence Initiative’ of the German federal and state governments and administers the Doctoral Program at the Business School of the University of Mannheim.

With 33 fully ordained professors, numerous junior professors, more than 200 additional faculty members, and about 3,500 students, the Business School of the University of Mannheim is one of the largest and most renowned business schools in Europe. Research and Teaching at the highest international level, consistent quality management, international focus and distinctive practical orientation constitute the focal points of the "Mannheim Philosophy."

QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent students holding either a four year Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in business administration or related fields.
